Mobile Billboard Highlights Kiggans’ Votes Against Medicaid
Virginia Beach, VA - Constituents of Representative Jen Kiggans are doubling down and continue to rally outside her office and throughout the district for Medicaid and tax fairness. If the proposed budget were to be enacted, extreme cuts would be made to Medicaid, and the 2017 GOP Tax Law would continue to fail small businesses and working families.
Despite her recent signing on to a letter urging Republican leadership not to make Medicaid cuts, Rep. Kiggans has shown her willingness to get in line with her votes to support those same cuts in previous budget votes. In support of Medicaid, Affordable Virginia hired a mobile billboard to cruise through Virginia Beach with the message: STOP SLASHING OUR CARE.
“We have heard from medical providers and constituents alike, and we support them,” said Emily Yeatts, Affordable Virginia Campaigns Director. “Last month, Rep. Kiggans posted a video claiming that she would not support Medicaid cuts, but has repeatedly voted for a budget that would do just that. We know that Medicaid is essential to our seniors, veterans, and children – you would be hard pressed to find a family in Hampton Roads who has not benefited from Medicaid at some point. We won’t stand for more handouts to billionaires over lifesaving care. Rep. Kiggans’ letter isn’t enough. She needs to show her support for Medicaid with her vote.”
