CBO Report Confirms Medicaid Cuts in GOP Budget, Exposing Rep. Kiggans’ False Claims
Congresswoman Kiggans said Medicaid Will Not Be Cut - She LIED
Virginia Beach, VA – This week, a Congressional Budget Office report verified that the Republican budget resolution, which is heavily supported by Rep. Jen Kiggans, would need to slash Medicaid or Medicare funding. These Medicaid cuts would put healthcare access at risk for 1.5 million Virginians, including seniors and children.
Rep. Jen Kiggans voted for the bill and then falsely claimed that the Republican budget resolution does not cut Medicaid. In a video posted on Twitter, Kiggans explicitly stated, “one of the things this budget resolution does not do, it does not cut Medicaid.” Kiggans has also repeatedly affirmed that she will protect Medicare.
“Rep. Kiggans is trying to mislead Virginians about the consequences of this budget vote,” said Emily Yeatts, Affordable Virginia Campaigns Director. “Representative Kiggans lied to her constituents when she said that the budget resolution ‘does not cut Medicaid’ – that is blatantly false. This witch hunt for so-called wasteful spending is proving what we already know, that these programs are not just necessary, but popular. Virginians thrive when they have access to healthcare, and this proposed budget would take healthcare away from seniors and children – the two groups who rely on it the most. This is just a cash grab for billionaires who will benefit from the resulting tax giveaways. Virginia deserves better, and Representative Kiggans should oppose any future cuts to Medicaid–or Medicare.”
