Advocates Call on Rep. Kiggans to Oppose Funding Cuts, Agree to Bipartisan Spending Bills

Virginia Beach, Va – As the Republican-controlled House continues to be delinquent in its duty to pass fair long-term spending bills, regularly bringing the government to the brink of shutdown, advocates in Hampton Roads are calling on Rep. Jen Kiggans to work with her colleagues to pass long-term funding bills and end the ever-looming threat of a shutdown. Affordable Virginia released the following statement urging the Congresswoman to take action on behalf of her constituents:
“Since September of last year, working families have faced shutdown threat after shutdown threat and have braced for the worst each time,” said Joseph White, Organizing Director for Affordable Virginia. “Instead of passing long-term, bipartisan budget bills, Rep. Jen Kiggans and her Republican colleagues have once again merely hit the snooze button with this latest extension. Rep. Kiggans ran on a promise to fight for working families, and now we need her to keep her word. We are calling on her to work with her colleagues to actually govern, pass the long-term spending package, and finally put an end to the constant threat of a government shutdown. Enough is enough.”
